About the Event
Your hips are the connection point of both the spine and the legs. The ‘hip girdle’ and the 20+ muscles that it encompasses are the central station of the body. So working on hip mobility improves your relationship with the rest of your body and its overall well-being. When hips are tight, they increase the load and cause overuse of the spine. In addition to the benefits of improved range of motion and circulation and decreased back pain, opening the hips can create an energetic shift or release as well.
Almost all poses in yoga allow for some sort of muscle to be stretched in and around the hip area. Practice starts with a heat building, hip & thigh opening sun salutation sequence, then moves into a series of hip openers where you will spend time breaking down and exploring the postures deeper.
